Fishing April 30th

It was just me today, the lone wolf. Got up at 4:30 in the morning, should have been 3:30 though. Got to the boat and loaded her up. Went to Great Kills Harbor to net the bunker that were hanging all the way in the back. Wasn't as thick as I would have liked them to be, but I netted about two dozen in about six throws.

From there I headed to Keyport, set up by the Number 1 can, tossed the anchor out and then put the rods in. All of a sudden I noticed one poles line go across my face, HMMMM, something wrong here. Well I checked the anchor to see if it was set...........what anchor???? See as as though the shackle came loose, and the anchor was lost.

So, I was left to drift with my live bunker bouncing on the bottom. The bunker were getting tore apart by huge Blues. Ended up boating four, and released. The others that I caught broke off right at the boat. It was a decent fishing day, with nice rod action from the big blues, but no stripers!
